Cinélume (also known as Cinélume Film Vidéo Inc.) is a Canadian company that dubs animation. It dubbed the four original seasons of Winx Club; after the series was revived by Viacom for more seasons, all of the later English dubs were recorded in the United States instead.

Overview[]

Since it is a nearly exact translation of the Italian scripts, the Cinélume dub is completely uncut without edits or censorship. The lack of editing also led to some script mistakes being kept in the show, like Stella's own voice actress accidentally saying "Stella's my best friend" in "The Heart and the Sword". The only major change from the Italian version is Aisha being renamed Layla, for unknown reasons.

This dub was available from 2004 on DVDs, but did not air on television until September 2005 on Okto in Singapore. This is also the version used on the official Winx Club channel uploads of the first four seasons. From October 9, 2017 to March 2, 2018, the first two seasons of the dub aired on the KidsClick programming block and its associated streaming service in the United States. Due to Viacom having the rights to seasons 3 onward, KidsClick could not air them.

This dub is what most foreign dubs of Seasons 1-4 are based on.

Dubbing by Cinélume[]

Trivia[]

  • This dub of the series is called RAI English by some fans, but this is misleading, as the RAI company did not make it.
  • This company also dubbed other series created by Rainbow: Maggie and Bianca Fashion Friends, Tommy & Oscar, and Monster Allergy.
  • Because this dub's fourth season was distributed in some English-speaking countries that had aired the 4Kids dub, which was cancelled after season 3, some name changes from the 4Kids dub were brought over to this dub; notably, Bloom's home planet, Domino, was suddenly referred to as Sparks, like in the 4Kids dub. This technically causes inconsistency within the Cinélume dub, as well as to many international dubs that based off their dub off of this dub and did not tackle this.
